Richard Byles Highlights BOJ Independence As Defining Tenure Achievement

Bank of Jamaica Governor Richard Byles says the standout achievement of his time in office has been steering the institution after it gained operational independence.
Speaking yesterday at his last Quarterly Press Briefing, Byles noted that the BOJ began functioning under that independent framework in 2022 and has had to work through several tests since then.
Byles, who is scheduled to leave office on August 18, praised his staff for what he called their exceptional work in meeting those challenges.
