Samuda outlines major water projects to support Jamaican industry

Water Minister Matthew Samuda told Jamaica’s manufacturing and export sector that the Government is making major investments to strengthen the country’s water systems.

Speaking at the Jamaica Manufacturers and Exporters Association’s Manufacture 360 Degree Conference, Samuda said dependable water service is essential to national development and economic activity. He highlighted the Rio Cobre Water Treatment Plant now being built in St. Catherine, saying it should improve supply to the industrial belt. He also pointed to the Western Resilience Water Project, where construction started two weeks ago, and US$200 million committed to the Pedro Plains Irrigation Scheme in St. Elizabeth.
