Knee Swelling Threatens Serena Williams' Planned Wimbledon Doubles Return With Venus

Serena Williams' bid to play Wimbledon doubles alongside her sister Venus is now in question following a knee setback suffered during her singles return.

The 44-year-old noted swelling in her right knee throughout a three-set defeat to Australian opponent Maya Joint.

The pair were due to team up in doubles for the first time since 2022, but Serena's readiness to compete remains far from settled.

Williams has said she is taking every step she can to heal in time for the fixture.
