Lawrence Tavern truck driver fatally shot while fixing motorcycle

Police in St Andrew North are investigating the fatal shooting of 24-year-old truck driver Carl Brown in Lawrence Tavern late Tuesday.

Brown, who lived on Park Road in the community, was reportedly on his property repairing a motorcycle at about 11:40 p.m. when a gunman approached and attacked him.

Investigators say the shooter fired at Brown, wounded him, and then left the scene. Brown was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

The police have not identified a motive. The Constant Spring Criminal Investigations Branch is handling the case, which is being treated as a killing within the St Andrew North police division.

Police statistics show the division had recorded three murders up to May 31, an 81 per cent decline in violent deaths compared with the same period last year.
