St Catherine health team to widen food safety checks in Portmore and Spanish Town
The St Catherine Health Department is moving to strengthen oversight of food premises, beginning with scheduled visits to businesses in Hellshire, Portmore.
Deputy Chief Public Health Inspector Denese Douglas said the checks will review sanitation practices and whether operators are meeting licensing and public health requirements. She said the programme will later reach other areas of Portmore and Spanish Town as the department works to lift health standards.
The agency is also maintaining parishwide vector-control work, including mosquito monitoring and dengue-prevention activities.
