A man suspected of brutally chopping his brother to death and injuring another sibling and his mother in Seaview, St Elizabeth, has been arrested by police.
The deadly attack occurred at the family’s home between 12:30 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Travis Williams, a labourer of Stephenson Town, Seaview, St Elizabeth.
Preliminary reports indicate that the suspect allegedly armed himself with a machete and launched an attack on his older brother, a younger sibling, and their mother. During the incident, Travis reportedly fled the house but was chased outside, where he sustained multiple chop wounds to his head, back, hands, and feet.
The younger brother suffered chop wounds to both hands, while their mother received injuries to her forehead and hands.
Both injured victims were rushed to hospital, where they remain receiving treatment.
Police were alerted and, upon arrival, discovered Travis lying along the driveway. He was later pronounced dead.
Residents reportedly intervened and restrained the suspect before handing him over to the police.
Investigators also recovered a machete believed to be the murder weapon near the scene as investigations continue into the tragic incident.
