ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — The body of 64-year-old Alton Channer was discovered at his home in Holt district, near Santa Cruz, on Wednesday morning, according to police in St Elizabeth.
Channer, who lived in the same district, had reportedly not been seen alive since Sunday, three days before the discovery. Police said he lived by himself and, when last seen, had complained that he was experiencing pain.
A police report said residents became concerned after a strong, unpleasant smell began coming from the house. About 10:00 am, a relative went to the premises and found Channer’s decomposing body.
Detectives examined the location and said there was no evidence suggesting foul play. The body was taken to the morgue, where it will await a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.
