St. James Ministers' Fraternal Urges Transparency After Integrity Commission Refers Wheatley for Illicit Enrichment
Church leaders are calling for greater transparency after an Integrity Commission report on Cabinet minister Dr. Andrew Wheatley was tabled in Parliament, recommending that he face a criminal charge of illicit enrichment.
Reverend Glendon Powell, who chairs the St. James Ministers' Fraternal, said accountability must follow if the minister is found guilty. Powell argued that anyone shown to be culpable should step aside on their own, without waiting to be pressed to do so.
He also stressed that the prime minister carries a duty to act if guilt is established in the matter.
