St. James police kill armed man in Granville Drive shooting

St. James police are examining a fatal shooting on Granville Drive that followed a clash between officers and an armed man.
Members of the Area One Fugitive Apprehension Team were on mobile patrol on Saturday when they saw a man standing by the road. Once the officers were in view, the man moved quickly into a nearby lane, conduct that drew their attention.
Officers say they identified themselves and ordered him to stop. The man reportedly turned, drew a firearm from his waistband, and pointed it at them. Gunfire followed and the man fell.
Police say they recovered a black Taurus G2C pistol. It was loaded with a single 9-millimetre round, and the serial number had been erased.
The man has not been identified. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
