Westmoreland Teen Dies After Motorcycle Hits Cow on Petersfield Main Road

An 18-year-old from Westmoreland has died and a 16-year-old boy is being treated in hospital following a late-night motorcycle crash involving a cow on the Petersfield main road on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Finardo Whitelocke, an unemployed man of Logwood district in Whithorn, Westmoreland.
Police reports indicate that about 11:30 p.m., Whitelocke was travelling on a green Champion motorcycle in the direction of Savanna-la-Mar. Sixteen-year-old Ryan Williams was the pillion rider when, near Petersfield Primary School, a white cow is said to have moved onto the road.
The motorcycle hit the animal, and both teenagers were thrown from the bike.
They were taken in a private vehicle to the Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital, where Whitelocke was confirmed dead. Williams suffered a fractured right leg and remains admitted for medical care.
Investigators said neither Whitelocke nor Williams had on a helmet when the crash occurred.
The location was examined by personnel from the Jamaica Constabulary Force, the Accident Investigation and Reconstruction Unit, and firefighters attached to the Savanna-la-Mar Fire Department.
The probe into the fatal crash is continuing.
