Daryl Vaz Seeks Better Toll Terms After Rate Change Notice
Transport Minister Daryl Vaz says Jamaicans are disadvantaged by the legally enforceable toll-rate concession negotiated under the former People’s National Party administration.
He said the current Jamaica Labour Party Government is therefore maintaining discussions with toll operators as it seeks arrangements offering improved terms.
Vaz made the comments after motorists voiced concern over a notice published today indicating that toll charges would be adjusted.
The minister criticised the previous PNP Government for accepting conditions that restrict both present and future administrations. He compared the situation to the agreement involving the Jamaica Public Service, saying both contained terms that were not beneficial.
