UDC Seeks Buyers for 23.61-Acre Old Harbour Textile Factory Site at J$585 Million Reserve
The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) has put out a Request for Offers covering a 23.61-acre holding at Rodons Pen, Old Harbour, St Catherine. The state agency says the parcel, widely known as the Cotton Polyester Textile Factory Complex, gives qualified investors and operators a chance to pursue light-industrial ventures.
Land records place the site at Volume 1226 Folio 317. It lies about one kilometre west of Old Harbour Town Centre and falls under Light Industry zoning in line with the Town and Country Planning (St Catherine Plain) Provisional Development Order, 2017 (Confirmation) Notification, 2023.
Offers must meet a reserve floor of J$585 million. The UDC has made clear that bids below that amount will not be considered. General Consumption Tax, transfer tax, stamp duty, and administrative charges will be added to the accepted offer.
General Manager L. Robert Honeyghan said the sale is part of the Corporation's ongoing push to move strategic assets into active use that supports national development. The UDC added that the competitive tender aims to draw bidders with the finances, experience, and development plans needed to put the land to work.
According to the Information Memorandum Document, the terrain is irregular in shape, sits above road level across the full area, and appears to drain well. Reserved roads run along the northern, southern, and eastern boundaries, with vacant land to the west.
Prospective bidders can download the Information Memorandum Document and application form from www.udcja.com/tenders-rfps-and-leases. Printed application packages are also sold for J$2,000 at the UDC Head Office, Seventh Floor, Office Centre Building, 12 Ocean Boulevard, Kingston.
