With the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaching, football supporters are already weighing which country will take the title, and their answers span several traditional powers.

Portugal drew backing on the strength of Cristiano Ronaldo’s continued presence, with one fan calling him the best player in the game. France also featured heavily, linked to Kylian Mbappé and to the depth available from the bench.

Brazil emerged as the most repeated pick. Supporters cited a strong squad, a deep football tradition and the roughly two-decade gap since the country’s last World Cup win. One fan noted that Brazil’s first title came in the United States and said he expects the side to come through again.

Argentina found support among those who believe the reigning champions can defend the trophy. One supporter argued the team is coming together and could reach the final again, while another pointed to the rarity of consecutive World Cup wins as a reason Argentina might achieve a back-to-back triumph.

England and France were paired by one observer who highlighted tactical discipline in the English camp and squad depth on the French side, though the same fan said England remained his personal favourite between the two.

Germany received a brief endorsement, and the Netherlands drew hopeful support from a fan who recalled three previous final appearances without a title and said he believes the team could finally break through.

Across the interviews, no single country commanded unanimous agreement. Brazil, France and Argentina led the conversation, but Portugal, England, Germany and the Netherlands also featured as plausible winners in the eyes of those asked.
