Danville Walker named general manager of Petrojam

Petrojam has announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Danville Walker as the company’s next General Manager, effective July 1.
His appointment follows a transparent and competitive recruitment process, reflecting Petrojam’s commitment to good corporate governance, according to the Board of Directors.
“Following weeks of open advertising for the role across local, regional, and international print and online platforms, over 60 applications were received.
“Following an independent screening of all applications through an established competency and qualifications matrix led by the Human Resources Committee of the Board, Mr Walker emerged as the candidate best suited to lead Petrojam,” the board said in a release.
“Mr Walker was distinguished by his strong cross-sectoral leadership experience, record of organisational transformation, and proven results in both public and private sector environments—qualities the board determined to be directly aligned with Petrojam’s strategic priorities at this critical juncture.”
A seasoned and highly respected senior executive, Walker joins Petrojam with a proven track record of delivering operational excellence, organisational transformation, and revenue growth across the energy and public sectors.
The board said: “From his early years as Senior Accountant at Coopers and Lybrand, and later Associate Professor of Accounting at City University of New York, Mr Walker brought his innovative leadership style back home to establish the Electoral Office of Jamaica as a regional benchmark for integrity and transparency in his role as Director of Elections.
“In 2004, he again answered the call to public leadership when he mobilised and optimised public bodies and resources towards successful recovery in the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan as head of the Office of National Reconstruction.
“Mr Walker was later tapped to lead the Jamaica Customs Department where he spearheaded the digitalisation of workflows, improved revenue performance, and delivered higher levels of operational efficiency.”
Among his many accomplishments when he moved on to becoming Group Managing Director with the ATL Group of Companies from 2012-2019, Walker oversaw transformative initiatives that propelled double-digit growth across all business segments.
Upon re-entering the public sector from 2019-2021, Walker worked as National Project Director in the Ministry of Economic Growth & Job Creation (HOPE Housing Division). There, he successfully transitioned HOPE from concept to reality by providing hundreds of housing solutions for Jamaica’s most vulnerable populations.
Since 2021, and up to recently, Walker was Senior Vice President at West Indies Petroleum, where he was involved in directing company-wide expansion and downstream petroleum operations, while spearheading performance optimisation programmes to maximise terminal throughput and streamline energy supply chain logistics involving high-value assets.
In welcoming Walker, chairman of Petrojam, Metry Seaga, commented, “Mr Walker’s proven track record of driving transformation, innovation, and growth makes him the right leader for this next phase of our strategic positioning as a multi-energy innovator.”
Walker holds an MBA from Florida International University and a BBA from City University of New York. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). A Justice of the Peace, Walker also serves on several public boards and is the holder of the distinguished honour of Order of Jamaica (OJ). In 2002, he was named Gleaner Man of the Year and CVM TV Newsmaker of the Year; he received the Gleaner Honour Award for Public Service the following year.
