Danville Walker exits West Indies Petroleum to take helm at Petrojam refinery
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Danville Walker has left his post as senior vice president at energy firm West Indies Petroleum and will take charge of the state-owned oil refinery Petrojam as its managing director from Wednesday, 1 July.
He has also stepped down from every position linked to West Indies Petroleum and its affiliated businesses. In a letter to the company's chief executive officer, Charles Chambers, Walker said his departure from the group would take effect at the end of June.
"I hereby tender my resignation from my position as Senior Vice President of West Indies Petroleum Limited (“WIP”) which shall be effective June 30, 2026. In addition, I also resign from all positions held within WIP’s subsidiaries listed below as well as any, affiliates, associated companies, and or related entities; such resignation also being effective on June 30, 2026: WIP Energy Limited (“WIP Energy”), West Indies Petroleum Terminal Limited (“WIP Terminal”) and West Indies Petroleum South Terminal Limited", Walker stated in his letter.
He added that he had submitted his resignation from the board of WIP Energy to its chairman and had fully disposed of all legal and beneficial interests in the St Lucian IBC known as World Energy Solutions Ltd, which currently holds shares in WIP Terminal.
"For the avoidance of doubt, effective June 30, 2026, I shall cease to hold, exercise, or represent any authority, responsibility, fiduciary duty, management function, signing authority, or decision-making role on behalf of the above-mentioned entities or any other entity within or related to the WIP Group", Walker commented.
Walker said he would cooperate fully to support an orderly handover of his duties. "I wish to express my sincere appreciation to the board, management, employees, business partners, and stakeholders for the opportunity to serve the organisation and contribute to its growth and development. I remain committed to ensuring a smooth handover of all matters under my responsibility during the transition period", he stated, while wishing West Indies Petroleum and its affiliated entities continued success.
A letter from an attorney for West Indies Petrojam, sent to the chairman of the Board of Petrojam, Metry Seaga, also reiterated that Walker had stepped down from all positions connected to West Indies Petroleum and its affiliates.
Walker previously served as commissioner of customs, director of elections, and managing director of the Jamaica Observer Limited.
