Four Killed in Bog Walk Gorge Police Shootout, Cop Injured

St Catherine, Jamaica: Bog Walk Gorge police shootout –Four men were killed and a police officer injured during a gun battle between law enforcement officers and armed suspects in Kent Village, near the Bog Walk Gorge in St Catherine on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 1:40 p.m. and involved a police team confronting several armed men. The circumstances that led to the confrontation have not yet been disclosed by investigators.

Following the exchange of gunfire, the four suspects were found suffering from gunshot wounds. They were transported to Linstead Hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.

A police officer who was involved in the operation was also injured during the incident. The extent of the officer’s injuries has not been released.

Police reported that two firearms were seized following the deadly encounter.

The shooting forced the closure of the Bog Walk Gorge, a major roadway linking sections of the island. Up to news time, the thoroughfare remained closed.

The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists to use alternative routes until the gorge is reopened.
