Mile Gully Community Club held on to the Manchester Football Association Major League title over the weekend, closing the 2026 season with a 1-0 victory against Villa United at the Mile Gully Community Centre.

Alwayne Robinson, a Mile Gully High School daCosta Cup striker, delivered the decisive moment in the 77th minute, turning home the winner after a scramble inside the goalmouth.

Mile Gully began the final fixture on 19 points, sitting three points ahead of Villa United. That meant a draw would have been enough for the defending champions to finish on top, but Robinson’s late strike ensured they ended the campaign with a win.

Coach Ashani Mullings said retaining the championship was pleasing, though he noted that winning the league had not been the squad’s stated aim when the competition started. He said the team recognised, as the season developed, that there was a chance to go all the way, and he credited the young players for producing a strong campaign despite one defeat.

Mullings said the next target for Mile Gully is to push toward the Tier 2 playoff.

Robinson said he was delighted to contribute to the title-clinching result, but stressed that the success belonged to the full team. He described the contest as a difficult match and said the players were pleased to come away with the win.

Nine teams took part in this season’s Manchester FA Major League.

In St. Thomas football, the race for places in the Surge St. Thomas Major League final resumes on Wednesday with the first-leg semi-finals, following a two-week pause to allow the Reyvia Jamaica Premier League to conclude. Defending champions White Horses FC meet the C4th at 5:30 p.m. in the opener at the Express Sports Complex, before York United face Prospect FC in the second match.
