Portland student in custody after fatal stabbing near Port Antonio bus park
A 15-year-old student from Portland remains in police custody after a dispute near the Port Antonio bus park ended with one man dead on Monday afternoon, but investigators have not yet laid charges against the teen.
The Constabulary Communications Network (CCN) confirmed that the matter is still under review and that no criminal counts have been filed at this stage.
According to reports reaching the unit, the incident unfolded around 4:00 p.m. when an altercation broke out among a group of schoolboys who were gambling behind a sanitary facility in the area.
CCN said three of the boys left the scene and later returned with three adults, one of whom was identified as Jeremy Tarzan Ferguson.
The group is said to have turned on the 15-year-old, who reportedly used a knife during the confrontation and stabbed Ferguson.
Ferguson was taken to hospital but did not survive his injuries.
