Stephenson Town Teen Charged With Murder After Machete Attack Kills Brother in St Elizabeth
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — A 19-year-old from Stephenson Town, Seaview, has been formally charged with murder and wounding with intent following a violent episode at his family residence early Saturday that claimed the life of his older brother and left two other relatives hurt.
Lorenzo Williams is accused of killing 21-year-old Travis Williams and using a machete to wound their 43-year-old mother and 14-year-old brother.
Law enforcement officials say all four were inside the dwelling shortly after 12:30 am when a quarrel escalated. Lorenzo allegedly flew into a rage and struck his sibling with the blade multiple times. He is also said to have attacked his mother and younger brother with the same weapon.
Police were called to the scene and the injured were taken to hospital for care. Travis could not be saved and was pronounced dead.
Residents are reported to have detained Lorenzo and delivered him to officers. He has since been charged, and authorities indicated that his court date is still being arranged.
