The Jamaica Football Federation wholeheartedly congratulates the captain of the Reggae Girls, Khadija Shaw, who has been voted the Professional Footballer’s Association (PFA) Women’s Player’s Player of the Year. Founded in 1907, the PFA is the English player’s trade union.
Shaw managed to score 21 goals and contributed three assists in 18 games for Manchester City, before injury near the end of the season. “The JFF is overjoyed that Miss Shaw continues to claim these prestigious awards. They speak to her class and consistency at the top level of club football. Her form and the resultant accolades put Jamaica’s women’s football in the headlines regularly, and for that we cannot repay her. We look forward to the new season with bated breath.”- Michael Ricketts, President of the Jamaica Football Federation.
Already the winner of the Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Women’s Player of the Year in May, Shaw has completed a notable double. She is only the third woman to win both individual awards, voted on by players and journalists respectively, in the same year. Shaw is also the third successive winner of the Players’ Player of the Year Award who finished the season as the Women’s Super League top goal scorer. End.
