Six people have died following a collision involving a truck and minivan on Friday morning along the Trelawny section of the North Coast Highway.
One of three injured people transported to Falmouth Public General Hospital for care became the sixth fatality.
The latest death raises Trelawny’s road-crash toll since the beginning of the year to 20. During the equivalent period last year, 15 deaths were recorded, making this year’s figure five higher.
The vehicles reportedly struck each other front-on shortly after 8:00 am on the Bogue Gate main road. Authorities have not yet established what caused the wreck.
Police and Jamaica Fire Brigade personnel remained at the location conducting recovery work while investigators sought to determine how the collision happened.
